Building the set:

I wanted to create a red theme for my set, In order to do this I borrowed a red rug off my mums friend and I collected all the red cushions and blankets from around my house. I also put up some red posters that I owned and some that I got off my freinds and I added some chritmas lights because I wanted to show thta my music video was sent it winter and also I felt that it added to the atmosphere. This is how the set looked before and after.

In addition the the basement I also created a mirror hallway, inspired by A$AP Rocky's music video for the song LSD.

Costuming

For the costuming it was very important to me that the red theme was present so I had all my actors wear red and black clothing, with the exception of the actress playing Eden who I dressed in white as I wanted single her out as innocent but also show that she doesn't fit in with the group. I made a similar costuming choice with the actress playing Wendy as she feels she doesn't really belong in the group I dressed her in an orange ......... to show how she doesn't feel properly assimilated. With these creative choices in mind I wrote out a list of the costumes to make sure everyone had the clothing needed for filming.

SFX

I had experience with making fake blood before and I was excited to use these skills again for the scene where the main character end her life. I planned to use this by having the fake blood come out from underneath the bathroom door.

Unfortunately an issue I had is that my mum said I can not soak her nice floor with fake blood. I did not want to argue with her about this so I decided to rewrite the opening and end scene to have the main character die from jumping out of a window instead. I liked this more in the end as I felt the visual was more powerful and I liked the idea of having a big thud sound followed by a scream which draws people to the action so I was actually happy to have had this issue.

Script

I didn't feel like a storyboard was necessary for this due to how detailed I made my shot list so I don't have a storyboard.

Costumes

I wanted the theme for my music video to be red however I wanted the main character (Eden) to stick out and also I wanted to show her innocence compared to the other characters so I asked the actress playing her to wear white/neutral tones. Similarly with the character of Wendy I wanted to show how she feels disconnected from the group hence why she gets upset so I asked her to wear greys, blacks and muted orange tones. I chose these colours as orange symbolises youthfulness and also as it is a muted shade of orange in comparison to the red tones of other characters it shows that she is less bold and more sensitive. I chose grey for the same reason. The rest of the cast were instructed to dress in red and black as red symbolises sacrifice danger and courage which are all themes of my music video and I liked the colour black as it's used a lot in horror movies due to it's connotations of darkness and death. All the clothes were from the actors own wardrobes as it was easier and cheaper this way because they all had clothes that already fit them in those colours. I only wrote down shoes for the characters who would be in outdoors scenes.
